Method: 334 adolescent girls aged 14–18 years were selected from 22 high schools of Mashad to complete Youth self-report (YSR), and Family Adaptability and Cohesion Evaluation scales (faces III). Results: Multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) showed that girls who had symptoms of internalizing disorders reported their families as less cohesive and less satisfactory compared to normal girls. Girls from drug-using families reported their family cohesion less compared to girls from normal families. Logistic regression analyses revealed that family cohesion and satisfaction with family adaptability were 72.7% predictive for subjects classification as symptomatic or normal groups. Conclusion: Family functioning and family therapy must be considered in the assessment and management of psychological problems of adolescents, especially the internalizing disorders in adolescent girls. %> http://icssjournal.ir/article-1-230-en.pdf %P 21-30 %& 21 %! %9 Research %L A-10-2-209 %+ Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Mashhad, Iran. %G eng %@ 1561-4174 %[ 2006
